U.S. blacklists Chinese companies and research institutions

The United States added eight more Chinese companies, including the world’s largest commercial drone maker, to an investment blacklist this week. The #U.S. Department of Treasury pointed to these companies’ alleged role in the surveillance of Chinese ethnic minorities, which is a groundless accusation. There are already around 60 Chinese firms on the list. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that #China opposes U.S. new moves that overstretch national security and the unreasonable suppression of Chinese companies. How could this growing number of Chinese companies in the U.S. blacklist weigh on the uneasy global recovery, amid a resurgent pandemic?
