Major retailers were closed on Thanksgiving last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and most of them decided to continue that tradition this year. The parking lot was empty and a line of carts blocked the doors at Target. It was a similar sight at Best Buy and Walmart as they stayed closed for the holiday. "I think it’s great," said Carlos Perez. "There’s too much shopping. Everybody’s too busy. It’s time to spend with the family, and there will be plenty of time for shopping after today."
